With the official launch of their new Android 7 inch tablet, HP has released a new 30 second video spot highlighting some of the key selling points of their new tablet.  Emphasizing it's slim form factor, dual cameras, Beats audio and low price the slick spot makes their new tablet look attractive indeed and the metal chassis really looks sharp.  The spot closes with the $169.99 price next the tab running Android.  Of course the Slate 7 Tablet is being carefully watched by tech analysts and bloggers because it is the first tablet that the company has released that runs on Android, the world's leading mobile OS.   It's also the first consumer targeted tablet since the WebOS powered HP TouchPad from two years ago.  So, what do you think of the spot above?  Will you be buying a Slate 7 Tablet?

The HP Slate 7 officially went on sale today with the 'Buy Now' button going live on the HP site.  The 7 inch tablet, HP's first in the Android world will retail for $169.99 and can be purchased either on HP's own site at the link below or through a number of retailers such as Staples and Best Buy.   Featuring Android 4.2, a dual core processor, screen resolution of 1024 x 600, Beats Audio and HP Print software that let's you print from your tablet to your Wi-Fi printer, the Nexus 7 is expected to be a popular choice among consumers looking for a tablet in the mid-price range of the market for 7 inch tablets.

Right on schedule it seems the HP Slate 7 has gone on preorder on HP's company store.  This accompanies some retail outlets that have also been announcing preorders being taken for HP's first Android device.  The price is right in line with what was expected and compares to a $169 price for the slate in the U.S.  Availability on the site is said to be May 1st so there's a couple of weeks wait till you'll actually receive the 'Beats Audio' equipped slab.  Other specs as we've detailed before include a dual core A9 processor, 1024 x 600 display, MicroSD card slot, 8GB of ram, front and rear cameras, and perhaps most interestingly the built in HP ePrint app that should simplify printing from your tablet over Wi-Fi.

Android Authority got a little preview of the Slate 7 tablet from HP VP of mobile products Omid Jareed who walked them through the hardware specs of the Slate 7.  Featuring premium build quality, rear 3MP camera, front VGA camera, an SDcard slot and  1024 x 600 screen, and beats audio featuring upgraded sound circuitry and software.  One of the key points made by Omid is that since the Slate 7 is an HP product it will be supported around the world.  It's obvious the company is hoping this backing will be a comfort to consumers looking for a tablet to purchase in this price range and will make the HP Slate 7 stand out from some of the generic white box tablets it will compete against.  The Slate 7 is aggressively priced at $169 and as we've discussed in the forum should be available sometime this month (April) in the U.S. and in May in the rest of the world.

New Member Introductions / Welcome to the Slate 7 Forum!

Welcome to Slate7Forum.com!  Please introduce yourself to the community and tell us a bit about what you plan to use your new Slate 7 tablet by HP for.  I'll start with myself.  I'm Rob, aka 'Babyfacemagee', an adiminstrator here and I plan on using my Slate 7 for web surfing, reading and sending emails and of course playing the occasional game.  I'll probably also access my Facebook account through it and use it as an ereader as well.

Early last week reports were circling that Hewlett Packard had decided to delay the release of their new Slate 7 Android tablet until June at the earliest.  Well it seems this was incorrect and was reported by some tech blogs because of an error on the HP website that listed the wrong month for release.  That error has been corrected however and the company has confirmed that the Slate 7 will indeed be showing up in April...in fact any day now.  So keep your eyes peeled folks.  With a retail price of only $169, we're likely to see the tablet discounted to an even lower price before long making this quite a steal.  Let us know if you spot one in the wild and of course make sure to come right back here to Slate7Forum.com to learn everything there is to learn to maximize your Slate 7 tablet.

On February 24th, Hewlett Packard introduced its first 7 inch Android tablet and the first to follow the company's web OS based 'Touchpad' from 2011.  The Slate 7 is priced at $169 and features a 1.6-GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor, 1024 x 600 resolution display, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, front and rear cameras, a MicroSDHC slot,  and features 'Beats Audio' support.   The Slate 7 also features HP ePrint, an application that will allow users to print wirelessly to supported Wifi printers.   The HP Slate 7 is expected to be released through most major retailers and electronic stores that carry HP Products and will be available in April.
